I’m going to preface this with saying I’ve never been much of a daredevil. I have been on the back of moped. Once. For 30 seconds. A full blown motorcycle is a long shot for me. But there is something excessively cool, nay, sexy, about a girl who rides (I feel similarly about girls that drive trucks, my girl crushes abound). Death wishes aside, at least some of the cool factor can be attributed to the aesthetic. Tight jeans. Motorcycle Jacket. Fuck-off boots.
The motorcycle bag?
Now I’m not talking about that Balenciaga done to death motorcycle bag that’s barely practical for anyone. I’m talking about a bag that girls who ride, and girls who want to look like they can ride, can partake in. And not only that, but a bag that a girl who wants to look like she can ride, and also wants to save the planet (yes, by buying bags), can feel good about.
Well, our friends at Looptworks have gone and made said bag(s).
The Moto Collection uses excess leather from Langlitz Leathers, a family owned shop that’s been slinging motorcycle gear, including the classic motorcycle jacket, since 1947. The bags themselves were designed in partnership with Lana MacNaughton – an actual girl who rides, and the founder of the Women’s Moto Exhibit.
The bags are Made in the USA, and each bag saves up to 6270 gallons of water and prevents up to 3 lbs of excess heading to a landfill per bag.
So whether you ride, or whether you just want to appropriate the aesthetic (sorry girls who actually ride), you can grab your own on pre-order right now.
